After Good Sleep and Rainy Days

The past two and a half days I slept and slept while my wife kept reminding me that I still needed to touch up the sculpture and finish a bunch of other small stuff at Socrates Sculpture Park.

Yesterday afternoon, Chris and Katy, interns from Pratt Institute, very nicely
helped me clean up around the piece and wrapp each wire's end in duct tape for safety reasons.

Today, I was again unable to wake up and ended up getting up at noon.
One of my first friends in New Orleans back to 2001, Glenavin, came back
from Italy where she underwent a couple of weeks of language study, and, on her way back to NOLA stayed a couple nights at
her aunt's home in NYC.

Nina, Glenavin and I had some lunch and visited the park.
Since she did not have a chance to see the 1941 Caffin Ave. shotgun house
in New Orleans, it was interesting to hear what she thought.

As an artist makes a piece, it is not easy to step back and look at the piece
as a third person. In other words, it is not easy to gain an objective perspective.
Especially after more than three months of intense production with lots of rain and
mosquitoes...

Today was nice. I was able to clear out my mind and organize my thoughts.
Deborah and I also talked about our artistic careers and processes to
make art in NYC.

So, most of the pictures here are shots I took today under much better health conditions than Sunday.
I hope that the many people who helped and supported this project in New Orleans
and other cities have a chance to glance through these.

You are really doing some amazing work. I'll try to head to the park to check the house out. I heard about your work on Studio 360, and checked out the pics on their web. Thank you for keeping the New Orlean issue alive.

Takashi,
I just got back from a family vacation (without internet) and took a look at the blog - wow. I wish we could have been there to see it in person at the opening. Congratulations !
